About Kinaki

The Nepalese are renowned for their craftsmanship, for people using their hands to create beautiful art from what is readily found in the natural world around them. This craftsmanship nurtures a relationship of give and take-- understanding, respect, and care, both between cultures and between people and the land. Our vision is to provide a space for a mutual exchange between artisans and visitors. To create a setting for artists to be able to share, preserve and protect their art forms, their knowledge, their heritage by sharing with those who appreciate it, and in return see practices be passed down to coming generations. The goal is to celebrate slow living, sustainability, art, culture, tradition, and community through storytelling, hosting workshops and courses, and maintaining an artisan marketplace. We foster an environment in which each individual and community that we collaborate with feels safe, heard, empowered, and compensated fairly. We believe that these ethical practices are necessary for creativity to flow freely, establish trust and build the foundation for long-term partnerships.
