Established in 1978 on the Northern Beaches of Sydney Australia, Okanui is an Australian clothing icon created for people with a passion for coastal living and Escaping The Everyday. Our story began in the 50's when a 15 year old Dick Ash re-purposed canvas mail bags from the Avalon Post Office to make knee length board shorts for his mates who were riding the first Australian Surfboards - Okanui's. So the new boardies were named - Okanui's. Dick designed the board short with a distinctive hibiscus print that remains the signature of the Okanui brand to this day, typifying the timeless spirit of beach culture and outdoor lifestyle. Continuing the tradition, Okanui remains in the family, still based in the Northern Beaches. Okanui is committed to producing high-quality, fun and comfortable clothing for Men, Women and Kids, while doing our best to tread lightly on the earth.
