About Lickin Flames

LickinFlames is a small ceramic design firm located in the foothills of California. The studio is in the middle of a forest and while it's not at the end of the road, it's close. We still use clay from the same supplier that we used when we began making objects from clay over 50 years ago. Jim is proud of his potter's wheel that was made in 1972, when he acquired it. While we still produce our "Scenics," introduced some 45 years ago, the hallmark of the LickinFlames brand is post kiln manipulation of the surfaces of the pieces. We take glowing hot pieces from the kilns and play with the glazes and glowing clay. Each piece is a work of art.Read their story
