Nambu ironware is a traditional craft made in Morioka and Oshu cities in Iwate Prefecture. To do before use: Rinse the inside of the tetsubin lightly with water. (Do not scrub with a sponge or scrubbing brush.) Bring the water to a boil and discard the boiled water. (Repeat two or three times.) Then use the tetsubin. Use the tetsubin only to boil water. Boiling tea leaves may cause the tannin in the tea leaves to react with the iron and turn the tea black. In addition, tea leaves and odors may adhere to the inside of the tetsubin, causing mold, etc. Please refrain from boiling tea leaves. 　 What to do after use: Throw away all remaining hot water. Please keep the lid off and place over low heat (about 1-2 minutes) to allow the water to evaporate completely. Store in a dry place, wrapped in newspaper, etc. If storing for a long period of time, replace the newspaper with one that has absorbed moisture from time to time to help prevent rusting.
