They will naturally degrade in compost in around 4-6 months* and leave no trace of harmful substances behind. Not only this... Was pleased with the packages of sweets, particularly as they are plastic-free and can be home composted. Unfortunately, the glass jars weren't so good - 2 of the 6 were barely 3/4 full and I simply couldn't sell them like that - felt rather short changed on those.
