About Sild Whisky

Over 60 years ago, the renowned Sylt merchant and wine merchant Rainer Heiliger bought the production site of the Holstenbrauerei, in Westerland, Bötticher Straße 7, on Sylt, to store his fine wines. The historic building also had a peat chamber in the warehouse, which immediately made whisky lovers rave about. Even back in the 1960s and 70s, Feinkost Heiliger was one of the top addresses for well-known and rare Scottish single malt whiskies in Germany. However, many more years should pass from the first thought to the first cask of your own Sylt whiskey. Alexander Sievers, son-in-law and current owner of the Heiliger wine shop, an equally passionate whiskey connoisseur, took up the father-in-law's idea. And as life plays out, during this time he meets Florian Stetter, whisky pioneer and founder of the Slyrs distillery from Schliersee in Bavaria, who distilled his first single malt in 1999. Alexander Sievers starts fire and flame for the project first alone, then together with the makers of the Slyrs Distillery Anton Stetter, co-owner of the Slyrs, and Hans Kemenater as Master Distiller, from Bavaria.
