Mastodon was born from generations of curiosity and craftsmanship, inspired by my great-grandfather Frank Spicer - a man who lived to be 106 and taught me to pay attention to the natural world. As a kid, we’d sit with stacks of National Geographic, dreaming about the ancient creatures that once roamed the land we called home. One in particular stuck with me: the mastodon. Powerful. Wild. Impossible to ignore. That spirit lives on in every bottle we make. At Mastodon, we create small-batch, pepper-forward hot sauces that celebrate bold flavor over pure heat. Our ingredients are thoughtfully sourced, our recipes are crafted with care, and every label reflects our belief that great food starts with integrity and ends with joy. Made in the Southern Tier region of New York and proudly produced in our local co-op kitchen, Mastodon is more than a hot sauce - it’s a connection to place, memory, and flavor that bites back.Read their story
