About Me : I’m Namitha .... the creative mind behind Naoi, a former IVF scientist, travel enthusiast, and food lover! The journey towards Naoi started in 2016 in the early years of my son's autism diagnosis.  It was the perfect escape for me and provided me a way to recharge before facing the realities of everyday life at home.  With research, practice, and a lot of patience….Naoi has evolved into the business it is today. I use wood and paper in the making of my jewellery and everything is handmade in my studio at home (only the laser cutting and UV printing on wood are outsourced). Brand Name: Naoi (pronounced Ney-oi) means the inner chamber of a temple. The meaning resonated with me as this creative outlet provides a real sanctuary for me. The Process: All pieces are made to order, hence the longer lead times. I use resin on all my pieces which requires a curing time of 48 to 72 hours. I resin both the front and back of most pieces so it takes approximately 1 week for pieces to be ready to drill and assemble. I stagger batches and paint new batches in preparation for their resin coats while waiting for others to cure. I also allow myself a little extra time just in case I need to remake pieces. As much as I have streamlined processes, the element of unpredictability with the use of resin must be taken into account so the lead times reflect that.
