Donel Slonchka, a special education teacher of 20 years, steps out of the classroom to create 240 Spirit Press. Her classroom, Room 240, has spirited her to continue to make a difference, create an impact and be a change agent outside of the classroom. After attempting to leave education, Donel decided to start a business that allowed her to build a career with all the qualities that she felt she was missing out on in the environment of a very stressful special education classroom. Creativity, autonomy, leadership, positive customer interactions and a business mindset has allowed Donel to flourish as a new small business owner. 240 Spirit Press's products thrive in the arena of community, Pittsburgh, school spirit and positivity. While 240 Spirit Press initially published social and emotional awareness journals and stationery that made sense for our teacher mind, our brand continues to evolve with apparel and accessories. We plan to continue to develop products that unite communities, support school environments, promote school spirit and share our love for the city of Pittsburgh. Read their story
