About Parallel Hands

The creative path has been one of loops, tangles and tangents. Carol’s introduction to ceramics was at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, on a whim she chose ceramics as her first elective during foundation year and loved it. But curious of other materials and disciplines, she was led in other directions. It wasn’t until many years later, after a career in the beauty industry with creative pursuits relegated to the side, did Carol return to clay. The work is of movement and gestures. It starts off with a loosely formed idea, a foundation is thrown on the wheel, pieces then added to transform the shape and add fluidity.
