About Scott Reinhard Maps

Scott Reinhard Maps is a Brooklyn-based effort to create stunningly visualized maps at the highest quality. Scott developed a process for combining historic paper maps with contemporary elevation data to create scenes that are realistic-looking and geographically accurate. The original historic elevations can be found here. Our maps are produced in the New York using archival Giclée pigment-based techniques on matte paper or archival inkjet printing on lustre photo paper. We've chosen this method for its archival quality, rich and consistent colors, and proven stability over time. The techniques developed by Scott have been highly influential to the fields of cartography and data visualization. We've been featured in Engadget, Hypebeast, Kottke, Design Boom, Colossal, and more. Scott's past work includes Graphics Editor at the New York Times, where he was part of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize in Public Service in 2021 for the Covid-19 tracker. Read their story
