About Artefacts

The definition of an artefact is ‘an object made by a human being, typically one of cultural or historical interest’. Bearing this in mind, and taking inspiration from the simplicity of the content, we developed the idea of calling our merchandise ‘Artefacts’. After coming to the realisation that everything is becoming digital, we came to the conclusion that the value of physical possessions is seemingly reducing - something we’re actively working to change. Taking inspiration from a broad range of themes, our clothing reflects this and so it usually has some sort of reference to our frame of mind or current world events. Due to this, we’re putting a time stamp on each piece of clothing being purchased, this combined with the fact that we don’t rerelease collections further adds to the importance of the time stamp. Part of the idea behind our timestamps is to evoke a strong sense of place and time in the future - each item you buy from us could very well take you back to when and where you were when you bought it, as well as your own frame of mind at the time - making them modern day artefacts in their own right. This allows people to develop an attachment to the piece instead of it being something that’s old and outdated a few months down the line regardless of changing times and trends.
