About Farina 1709

Johann Maria Farina (1685-1766) came to Cologne from Italy and named his unsurpassed fragrance Eau de Cologne in honor of his new hometown. From Italy, he brought the art of distilling alcohol pure from wine. As a result, the prerequisite was to create a high-quality fragrance water. Everyone loved the perfumer's new fragrance; his noble customers included Empress Elisabeth, Cologne Elector Clemens August and Goethe. Since there was no trademark right at the time of the rococo, a whole fragrance class is now called eau de cologne. The fragrance is a bouquet of the finest essences that subtly surrounds you.
