About Ellie Joe Design Co

Hi there! I’m Monica — the hands, heart, and paint-stained hoodie behind Ellie Joe Design Co., based in Wisconsin. While my business officially launched in 2021, my creative journey began way earlier — back when I was a little kid crafting alongside my mom (an artist herself!). You could say, I got it from my mama. I started selling on Etsy in 2014 after my son was born and haven’t stopped creating since. Over the years, I’ve dabbled in a little bit of everything, but I’m always drawn to projects with heart — especially ones that give new life to materials that might have otherwise ended up in the trash. Every piece in my shop is cut, sanded, painted, stained, and assembled by me. I proudly source materials from other small businesses whenever I can — like our wood, which comes from a family-run business in North Carolina. Supporting small and shopping thoughtfully is woven into everything I do. I have a degree in Environmental Policy from St. Norbert College and a Master’s in Environmental Planning from Florida State University. These days, I’ve traded city planning for creativity, working full-time in the studio while raising my two kids, Eloise and Joseph — the namesakes of my shop and my biggest reasons “why.” From my family to yours: thank you for supporting this small business.
