About Assamica Teas

Hi there, we’re Gayatri and Sujata, a mother-daughter duo who love drinking tea! We founded Assamica Teas in 2010 because we were disappointed with the dusty teabags being served in cafes (not to mention the watery Chai Lattes), which lacked flavor, freshness, and health benefits. We’re both natives of Assam, India where bold tea and herbal concoctions packed with nutrients permeate daily life and promote holistic health (throughout the day, we drink several cups of strong Assam tea brewed with smashed cardamom pods or minced ginger; meals regularly include functional ingredients like moringa, amla, or hibiscus ; fresh picked gotu kola and fennel tea aids with digestion and reducing inflammation ; and fresh grated turmeric boiled in milk is used as a nightcap). And so we started blending, with a goal to bring a slice of Assam to the Naperville community. Our wellness teas are blended using carefully selected herbs, flowers, fruits, and spices that each have specific health benefits and functions - mood-boosting, calming, detoxing, or energizing – and are backed by principles of nutrition and Ayurveda (Gayatri has a Ph.D in nutrition!) for overall wellbeing and health. We formulate all our teas to be bold and soulful and blend in small batches to ensure maximum freshness and flavor.
