I closed my eyes and the memories and scents came flooding back. Women on the roadside selling their wares to make some money to help feed the family and send their children to school. Sounds of the endless tooting of horns but above all the scents and tastes of Nana's and Mama's cooking. Nana, my grandma, insisted on my education in the kitchen - much to my horror at the time. I wanted to go hang out and play like the others. She would say, "season the cooking, add a little this and a little that," which led to my first iconic spice mix called Naija This n That Spice - an all purpose spice mix in honour of Nana! I'm Maggie, founder at Maggie's African Twist and chief creator of African inspired food products, chilli sauces, spice mixes, gifts and more.
