In 1999, dismayed at the condition of his copy of Roadrunner by Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers, and not wanting contribute further to the increasing amount of landfill, Pip Fowler wondered if it could be made into a coaster. He quickly realised that the paper label and hole in the middle were going to be problematic, so set about designing a coaster that looked like the middle of a record, but fulfilled the function of a coaster. Using recycled polypropylene to make discs that look like records (with the end groove and 'teeth') and printing polypropylene labels, Pip successfully tapped into people's love of old vinyl and brought the iconic imagery back into the living room. We donate to a local music charity 'Music For The Many' which give free music lessons and instruments to children in our town, assisting the next generation of music. Read their story
