Since 2007, Asking For Trouble has been making people smile with a range of colourful, happy products featuring original kawaii characters. Everything is designed by me, Marceline Smith. I'm an artist and writer based at the seaside on the West Coast of Scotland. My designs and characters are inspired by my many trips to Japan where I discovered that cute things are for everyone and being surrounded by happy faces really does lift your mood. A little bit of colour and cuteness can make every day more fun, whether that's a pin on your coat or a notepad on your fridge. I always aim to create useful, long-lasting products that don't harm the planet. I use eco-friendly options whenever possible including recycled paper, FSC certified wood and recycled acrylic destined for landfill. All my products are printed or manufactured in the UK & EU and I mostly work with other small businesses. Since my products are created in small batches, I'm always happy to work on a special edition for shops, and can offer fully plastic-free or unpackaged products if you prefer. My love of cute things is so strong that I also write about kawaii characters and crafts for the Super Cute Kawaii blog I co-founded in 2008, and recently published The Super Cute Book of Kawaii with Pop Press/Penguin.Read their story
