I love creating work where our inner child and our adult selves can meet. My sneaky plan is to use whimsy to tell just enough of a story that the viewer is drawn in:.....and then starts to fill in the mystery with memories of their own. I have two main styles that I tend to flip flop between. Straight watercolor and mixed media watercolor. With straight watercolor there is a detailed pencil sketch and then watercolor. This style is very planned out, controlled and technical. My mixed media watercolor technique is more experimental and abstract. I create the background first, usually with no preconceived notion of what it’s going to look like or what kind of story it will tell. I move paint around and see what happens! I find going back and forth between these two opposite techniques prevents burn out.Read their story
