"Wait what? You are carving WAX? To make it into jewelry?" My mind was BLOWN. It was 2013 and I was helping my friend do teachers assistant corrections when Her new roommate walked by with a tool and something in her hand- and thats where the aforementioned conversation happened. I had to find out more. That night i was struck by something, an amazement and awe at something that felt impulsive yet so so intriguing. She had been attending jewelry making school to become a metalsmith. Lightbulbs lit up in my mind and my ideas ran wild. The very next day I found myself touring the school & atelier of the École des métiers du Sud-Ouest-de-Montréal. Not only was the idea of creating my hearts desires out of shaping and melting metals seem like so much fun, but also getting the opportunity to study in french also excited me. I finished my diploma in 2016. I spent my time working & acquiring studio tools & moving every few years, it left no time for creation. Having completed many projects in school, I have struggled to keep my creativity flowing for a few years. In April 2020 I welcomed my first son (mid-pandemic). Despite the conflicts & virus spreading throughout the world, my son and partner managed to brighten my days with their everlasting love and support. I have since moved into a new Workspace that I am absolutely in love with! My creativity has been sparked by the inspiration to make my family proud of their Mama. Thus igniting the rebirth of Cournoyé
