About First Growth Reclaimed Design

First Growth Reclaimed specializes in designing and crafting custom gifts and heirlooms that are beautiful in both form and function. By working exclusively with old-growth Douglas Fir reclaimed from local,historic buildings, we extend the life of these ancient materials, adding a new chapter to theirstory. It’s intentional work, oriented around good design, and driven by our desire to do no harm. We design, cut, sand, and stain, drawing out the magic that already exists in the lore of the material, delivering meaningful products that last. At First Growth Reclaimed, sustainability is our north star. The rugged west coast is our muse and benefactor, inspiring our work and providing the raw material for our creations. History is etched into each grain of wood that arrives in our studio. These stories guide our work, and echo through everything we create. As stewards of such precious materials, we’re privileged to help these magnificent trees complete their life cycle within BC – from seedling, to original structure, to final form. For us, it goes beyond our passion for good design and quality craftsmanship.
