About Tenuta Le Mandorlaie

On our organic farm 'Tenuta Le Mandorlaie' which is located in Maremma Tuscany, Italy we truly love our olive trees, we take care of them and ensure they are pruned and fed organically in March every year to aid their health. Surrounding the main house and our agriturismo cottage we have around 300 olive trees, the age of these trees is around 60 years and we have several varieties, the olives flower in april/may and olives start to form in June. Slightly away from the farmhouse we have a second olive grove that holds around 600 trees which also have an age of around 60 years and the remainder of our olive trees (another 150 trees) can be found in the rows of our authentic vineyard. We have an active program of new olive tree planting and plant between 200 and 300 new trees every year. We are always trying to increase the amount of wildlife in the gardens and the surrounding lands, every year we are trying to plant new trees and plants in order to increase and support bio diversity. Currently we are planting between 700 and 1000 new lavender plants per year taken as cutting in early spring, as well as over 400 new rosemary plants. We utilise these to support our bee’s and also for the insects, butterflies and to provide cover for other creatures.Read their story
