Almasicily is named after Alma, my first daughter. In 2015, when we were preparing for weaning, I was convinced that Alma would have the most genuine foods available. My parents, but also my grandparents and great-grandparents have always worked in the fruit and vegetable sector: with over a hundred years and four generations of experience behind them, I thought that finding for her good and healthy food would have been a breeze. I was wrong! Even here in Sicily, the diligent greengrocers who arrive in the city and villages with their Ape are no longer a guarantee that fruits and vegetables are truly local and organic. And the same happens with pasta, oil, honey, preserves... More and more producers succumb to the logic of the global market and competitiveness at all costs: together with Alma the awareness that it would be more difficult to find products of which to be able to trust, to be consumed in the family and to recommend to friends. So I said to myself: I create it, a company that sells products that you would give to your children with your eyes closed! A clean, transparent and reliable company, which supports small local producers, the principles of organic and sustainable agriculture, the value of slow production methods that keep intact not only the nutritional properties, but also the taste.
