Business differently: Café Chavalo Yes, it's possible! A global trade that everyone involved can live on, a respectful relationship of trading partners and sustainable, organic agriculture! Only in this way can a fair future and the preservation of livelihoods in the growing countries work. That's why Café Chavalo imports fair trade and environmentally friendly products from Nicaragua. Literally translated, chavalo means “child.” This is the hope for a dignified growth and a future worth living in. Our “child” Café Chavalo was born in 2014. At that time, commercial partnerships began with the coffee cooperative “Tierra Nueva” in Boaco/Nicaragua. A year later, the first shipping container with fair trade organic coffee came to Germany. We are now shipping more and more coffee by sailing ship. It therefore comes to Europe by wind power and is thus setting an example for more climate protection and a rethink in the global transport of goods. Then as now, we buy coffee directly from producers, i.e. without intermediaries. In this way, we can make pricing fair and transparent. Our goals are to pay farmers prices their families can live on, support self-managed cooperatives, and promote self-reliance and high product quality.Read their story
