The Matte Distillery makes delicious spirits by hand in Bern's old town. Founded and financed in 2016 through crowdfunding, the distillery is already inspiring the whole of Switzerland. Distillation workshops take place weekly with guests, in which new gin recipes are created. This is how new award-winning products are created every year, and tasting them on site is definitely an experience! It is distilled in a beautiful 1000 liter copper boiler, in which, in addition to juniper schnapps, absinthe is distilled. Local botanicals such as woodruff and blackthorn fruits are collected on the Aare and in the surrounding forests. Awards from Distisuisse and international spirits competitions show that the effort is worthwhile!
