About Little Malibu

Alan Riik has been creating art since he held his first crayon. This creativity continued to expand into painting, sculpture, illustration, poetry, and writing. His wife and two adult children all have, or are seeking, careers in the arts. As a former topped ranked amateur surfer, then professional surfer, and graduate of the University of North Florida, he became inspired later in life to start writing and illustrating children’s books as an outlet of his two passions: Art & Surfing. His first book titled “Little Malibu: Catches Waves” is about a young surfer who is having a hard time catching waves and having fun. He does not understand why, until he finds his special gift. This positive children's story is about recognizing your unique gifts, overcoming challenges, recognizing your limits, and not giving up. This is a fun story for children ages 3-8 years, with lots of color pictures. On many pages throughout the book, children can try to find a fish and crab within the illustrations.
