About Moksha Moda
To start and to clarify, I Robert Mathias am the founder, the operator, the curator of the Vibe of Hostel Del Funk, a music festival collective that Moksha Moda is sold at. However, Moksha Moda, one of the featured conscious creators in our nomadic collective boutique on Shakedown Street, is also my clothing apparel. I felt the calling in 2018 to quit my corporate sales job in New Hampshire and to travel to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, a lake and country that I had never been, to search for tailors to work with that have the ability to take my ideas, my designs, my visions for dance and festival inspired clothing and help me manifest them into reality. Plus a mission of mine is to put as little waste into the fashion world as possible by always incorporating upcycled fabrics into all of the clothing that I have crafted. What better place than Guatemala to accomplish this. To find and source beautiful one of a kind hand woven Mayan fabrics to upcycle. My team of Mayan tailors and I are sourcing these fabrics and finding the gems from second hand markets across Guatemala. Specifically cortes and huipils which are the traditional wrap skirts and blouses worn by Mayan women. With each piece having its own story and origin woven into the fabric. We are giving these beautiful works of art a new life by incorporating them with curated festival fabrics for each article of ethically crafted clothing creating a very unique one of a kind eco friendly wearable art. 🙏 Libera tu moda 🙏
