FYU DESIGNS was started in the kitchen of Sunita Dharani's apartment, the table littered with vintage pieces she gathered from estate sales, salvaged from 'junk' swaps, and random purchases from Craigslist. For anyone else, the assortment of beads and chain did not look like much; for her, it meant giving these elements a new life, to be worn and enjoyed by someone new. Each of her pieces incorporates elements of vintage materials, designed with the modern individual in mind. While the materials may be of decades past, Sunita aims for potential clients to emotionally connect to the piece every time they wear it, whether it evokes memories for the wearer, or gives them a sense of protection. The pieces serve as 'armor' for the wearer.
