About Matrescence Press

Matrescence Press was born to mark matrescence through greeting cards for the birth of a mother, because a mother is born too. Rather than introducing another collection of baby cards, Matrescence Press introduces a new genre of greeting cards, one that recognises the birth of a mother alongside the birth of a baby. Inspired by the language of matrescence, our cards honour the physical, emotional and identity transformation that accompanies becoming a mother. They offer thoughtful words for moments that are deeply felt, yet rarely acknowledged. Our mission is to carry the language of matrescence beyond academic books and into everyday rituals, helping more mothers feel recognised through the simple act of receiving a card. Collection I, Welcome to Matrescence, launched in July 2026, introducing six premium greeting cards designed to mark the birth of a mother.Read their story
