About Loblolly Press

Loblolly Press is an independent publisher based in Asheville, North Carolina. We work with writers whose voices are rooted in the South and shaped by the realities of living here now. Our books include contemporary poetry, short fiction, and novels attentive to place, labor, ecology, queerness, race, and class. We publish work that is specific in its origins and serious about where it comes from. Loblolly Press exists in response to the ways traditional publishing often overlooks Southern writers whose experiences fall outside dominant narratives. We focus on voices that have been pushed to the margins, and on books that resist flattening the South into a single story. Our goal is not to define Southern literature, but to expand it. We support writing that is rigorous, grounded, and alive to the pressures of the present moment, and we work in close partnership with authors to bring those books into the world with care and intention.Read their story
