One theory on the farm was that a lightning strike near the orchard years earlier may have triggered the tree to develop its unusual characteristics. Whether coincidence, nature, or something else entirely, the tree had clearly become something special. Rather than lose it, the family carefully propagated the tree through cloning, preserving its unique citrus character generation after generation. On the farm, the fruit became known simply as “sweet lemons.” Decades later, that discovery inspired Lemonati.
