About Pinaks

The story How two people get to know each other and get the idea of producing insect snacks together. It all started with an (un) ordinary cooking evening in summer 2018, when Sebastian invited insect lovers into his kitchen. One of the guests was Camilo that night. The graduate engineer for technical environmental protection comes from Colombia and has a natural relation to insects as food. What is an unusual thought for Europeans was normal for him from an early age. In Colombia, insects are regarded as a nutritious part of the daily diet, which is why he was aware of the benefits of a particular protein source early on. He learned all other arguments for the use of insects as food many years later during his studies. The focus was mainly on the globally limited resources, which are used by worms, locusts etc., much more gently than by ordinary farm animals. And so everything took its course... Native Foods now supplies local customers as well as some online shops under the new brand name “Pinaks” and is ready to convince even more people of the benefits and tastes of their insect-based products.
