About Parlementia

Originally, Parlementia is a hill facing the ocean between two Basque villages, Bidart and Guéthary. In the 17th century, whalers disputed the waters until they decided to settle their differences differently, by negotiating at the top of the hill. The hill had no name, so it was honored by being named Parlementia. A chapel, Saint Joseph, was even erected there to serve as a parliament between the two villages and to welcome all those who were not accepted elsewhere. At the end of the 20th century, Parlementia gave its name to the beach, then to the mythical wave that rolls offshore when surfing arrived from California. Today, Parlementia is much more than a clothing brand: it is also a web radio, a music label, and a unique living space overlooking the spot in Guéthary. People come alone or in groups to eat a croque at the coffee shop, browse beautiful books, find a vintage Hawaiian shirt or a mythical vinyl while checking the wave, while in the workshop below, the latest novelties are being made.
