The Guccione Oil Mill is an important reality, which since 1966 has been producing very high quality extra virgin olive oil in the territory of Chiaramonte Gulfi, a small village in the province of Ragusa. It is a family business, born as an oil mill in the service of small local producers, which over the years has begun to produce labels under its own brand. Today at the helm of the oil mill are the brothers Vito and Giuseppe Divita, who carry on the business with artisan passion and respect for the ancient traditions of the Hyblean territory. Sicily's bond with the olive tree is lost in the mists of time. Always present on the island with many excellent quality cultivars, the olive tree, together with the vine and wheat, is a symbol of Mediterranean culture and the populations that have inhabited since ancient times the shores of the Mare Nostrum. To ensure the highest quality, the olive harvest is done by hand, in order to select only the ripe fruits and leave the integrity of the tree intact. The olives are first washed with a modern and delicate water and air system. Then we proceed to the pressing in order to obtain the dough, which is then stirred slowly and thoroughly. Thanks to the use of modern centrifuges, the oil is separated from the water and the extraction of extra virgin olive oil, preserving all the precious aromas and fragrances.Read their story
