After experiencing a broken engagement and the sudden loss of a job, founder David Roost returned to his hometown of San Diego, brokenhearted but determined to see these huge life shifts as an opportunity to achieve his lifelong goal of owning his own business. Roost, a lifelong woodworker, was making a gift for his friend, a charcuterie board, and when it came time to treat the board with a finish, he scoured the internet for something organic and found nothing up to his standards.
