About Frantoio Romano

The project was born from the idea of creating a bottle that represents the "Sicilianity" of an extra virgin olive oil produced by Frantoio Romano on the slopes of Etna, a family business that for generations has produced one of the best Sicilian oils from the Nocellara dell'Etna cultivated throughout the area with passion and skill. The idea of reproducing one of the most famous "symbols" of Sicily is to provide a handcrafted object combined with one of the best Sicilian oils, to leave the consumer with a memory of this land. The legend of the "Moor's head" dates back to the 11th century, when the Moors invaded Sicily and became part of the population, blending perfectly with the Sicilian people. The bottle is made of glass from a mold created from an original design, with a female face design on one side and a male face design on the other. It is made in dark glass or painted white, possibly decorated with some details (the mouth, the eyes, the necklace, etc.), to create different versions of the bottle for the retailer. The bottle design has been registered with the Chamber of Commerce of Catania to ensure the originality of the container. The content is a PGI Sicily Extra Virgin Olive Oil in the dark glass (BLACK) packaging and PDO Monte ETNA in the satin white one.Read their story
