About Diplôme Gin

In 1945, Europe ended the Second World War, following the invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944. Europe and France in 1945 were weakened by 6 years of conflict. France needs to be rebuilt. The American army, which participated in the liberation of Europe, remains present to secure and help the recovery of the countries affected. The US Army has bases where soldiers are grouped between different cities. A ceiling of 62,000 soldiers and 1,250 civilians was set by an agreement between Washington and Paris for France. In 1945, a call for tenders was made by the American army stationed in Europe at the various distilleries in France, Italy, and Great Britain in order to supply the army with Gin. A distillery in Dijon won the exclusive supply of gin. Production could begin and deliveries continued until 1966, the year the US Army withdrew from France. The distillery no longer had customers for its gin, so it stopped producing the drink but carefully kept the recipe in its archives. In the early 2010s, Edouard began to relaunch gin production using the same processes and ingredients as at the beginning. An in-depth study was carried out to find the distillery that supplied the US Army. He received strong enthusiasm from the distiller and owner of the famous still. The latter made it possible to produce the same “juice” with the same tools and methods as in 1945. This Gin intended only for the American army called “Diplôme” is a symbol of power, authenticity and French know-how.
