About Domaine de Labarthe

Proud to be winemakers, a motto well anchored in the spirit and daily gestures of the Domaine de Labarthe. It is always, with actions that respect the land and the fruit, that the Albert family participates in the production of qualitative and rigorous wines. On the slopes of the right bank of the Tarn, the Domaine de Labarthe is located in the town of CASTANET, canton of Gaillac. The Domaine de Labarthe is located 10 km from Cordes sur Ciel and its 13th century medieval city and 15 km from Albi and its episcopal city classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As attested by authentic documents in the name of Guillaume Albert, the Albert family has owned the Domaine de Labarthe since 1550. The story accelerated from the 1920s with the first direct sales: Camille sold her “gruff” from Mauzac to Paris. Then, in the 1950s, René took over by marketing the first bottles. Twenty years later, Paulette and Jean develop the estate and give it its letters of nobility. In 1983, they were relayed by their son Jean-Paul who created the current range of wines. Today, Jean-Paul and his son Thibault cultivate the 60 hectares of vines, planted with typical Gaillac grape varieties. Concerned about respect for the environment and the natural expression of the terroir, they develop all certified organic farming production.
