Founded over 30 years ago by South African born Irene Held, Indaba originated from a belief that life is richer when surrounded by meaningful things that bring comfort, pleasure, and beauty. Named after the Zulu word for “a gathering of people,” Indaba embodies connection between maker, product, and home. Today, Irene and her daughter Alison lead a women owned and operated, ( and Women’s Business Enterprise certified) brand celebrated for its strength in textile design and love of handcrafted traditions. Traveling throughout India, they collaborate closely with artisans skilled in age-old techniques such as handloom weaving, block printing, and embroidery, marrying heritage craftsmanship with modern design.
