Spiga pasta was born in the heart of Abruzzo in 1894. With its lines of semolina and egg pasta, it established itself over time to become, in the post-war period, one of the most well-known and market-leading brands in Pescara and its province. In the 60s and 70s, in addition to the local market, Spiga began commercialization in the major chains of Italian large-scale distribution, including Esselunga, Standa, etc., and simultaneously established itself in international markets such as the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, etc. At the end of the 80s, the Spiga plant and brand were acquired by a multinational group that changed its strategies and production until the brand rapidly disappeared in the early 90s. In 2018, the Spiga brand was acquired by Rustichella D’Abruzzo Spa, an Abruzzo pasta factory renowned for its high-quality production appreciated and distributed worldwide. In 2022, the three young entrepreneurs of RDA decided to give new life to the Spiga brand by producing a line of egg pasta that, due to the raw materials used and the industrial 4.0 production process, would be at the top of the quality market of reference. Starting from April 1, 2022, Spiga pasta has returned to being marketed in Abruzzo and the rest of Italy, renewing the memory and trust that so many consumers had placed in this historic brand.
