About StoryKnits

Hi! I'm Shelby and I'm so happy you're here! I have a passion for creating. In 2015 I taught myself to knit, and years later how to crochet. I started my Etsy shop, StoryKnits, selling hand-knit and crocheted accessories for friends and family, and later began selling items in brick and mortar stores. Literature is a big part of my life. I have a BSED in Library Science and was a school librarian for Kindergarten - High School. I've since 'retired' from teaching after having my first child, in September 2019. I had my second sweet girl in December 2024. I enjoy being a work from home momma and being able to watch my daughters grow and spend the rest of my time dedicated to StoryKnits. After becoming a work-from-home mom and continuing knitting and crocheting for StoryKnits, I got back into reading and drawing again as a form of self care. I fell in love again with reading and drawing! I discovered magnetic bookmarks and decided to start drawing my own! I have absolutely loved getting back into reading again and letting my creativity and imagination soar while creating whimsical, shabby chic, cottagecore, and cutesy bookmarks. 90% of paper products in the shop are digitally drawn and assembled by me. I love that I can focus on all four of my creative passions (crocheting, knitting, reading, and drawing) with StoryKnits and I could still keep the same business name!
