About Gawell Förlag

Gawell Förlag-Life in Motion is an independent publishing company and community platform based in Stockholm, Sweden with an international field of work and audience. Our vision is to be a creative and interactive meeting point for people with imaginable and unimaginable projects, with a focus on an outdoor, active, and sustainable lifestyle. Gawell Förlag was founded 2015 by photographers and outdoor geeks Charlotte Gawell and Patrik Engström. Still independent owners. After 25 intense years as photographers working with the largest publishing companies and magazines in Sweden and abroad, we gathered a lot of experience as well as a massive network of the most brilliant contributors in the business and we felt a desire to create our own playground. The outdoor passion goes even further back as we met as skibums in Chamonix in the legendary 80’s. Many days in the outdoors have been spent together since then, hiking, skiing, climbing, cycling, running, riding, you name it. The first book published on Gawell Förlag; Vélochef - Food for Training and Competition, by author Henrik Orre, became an international success and kickstarted the company into an amazing journey where the ambition to realize projects with heart, devotion, skill and good artistry is the priority. We aim to produce high-quality illustrated books. We believe in the tactile, sensual, and inspiring sensation a book made out of good craftsmanship and sheer dedication gives.
