About Enchanted Lion Books

Enchanted Lion Books is an independent, all female owned publisher based in Red Hook, Brooklyn. We publish illustrated books from around the world, convinced by the power of cultural exchange to inspire curiosity, awareness, and wonder. The proud winner of five Batchelder Awards and ten Batchelder Honors for most outstanding children’s translation, and fifteen NYT Best Illustrated Awards, we publish original titles, books in translation, and reissues from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s under two imprints: Enchanted Lion, which is our children’s imprint, and Unruly, our exciting new imprint of picture books intended specifically for adult and YA audiences. All our books are printed on FSC-certified paper, which means the paper has been sourced in an environmentally-friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable manner, in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council's vision for sustainable forestry.Read their story
