About Sun Potions

We believe sun care products should be high quality, healthy, and sustainable. The idea for Sun Potions was born out of our frustration with conventional sunscreens and cosmetics in general. We hate the idea of using products with harmful ingredients so we set out to make a sustainable, healthy, and reef safe mineral sunscreen. Sun Potions is an SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen hand-crafted in small batches in Dallas, TX. We use minimal ingredients to make a safe and effective non-nano zinc oxide sunscreen. Over the past two years we've had a few different iterations of our formula. There's been lots of experimenting and lots of failures but we're really proud of the progress we've made and really excited to share our creations with you! So what makes Sun Potions so great? We're glad you asked. Conventional sunscreens rely on an active ingredients such as oxybenzone, avobenzone, octinoxate, octyl methoxycinnamate and some other nasty compounds. These are all serious endocrine disrupter meaning it throws our hormones out of whack. As if that wasn't bad enough, these compounds are also harmful to our planet. It contributes to coral reef bleaching which in turn harms all other marine life that depend on Our Earth's coral reef systems.
