Silvia Kamodyová is a renowned ceramic artist based in Brighton, UK, where she established her studio in 2012, shortly after graduating with a Master of Design in Ceramics and Visual Research from the University of Brighton. Her ceramic collections are noted for their contemporary take on traditional crockery, blending functionality with a distinctive colour palette. This palette is inspired by the embroidery on Slovak folk costumes, which she interprets through a mix of vibrant and muted tones. Silvia employs techniques such as slip casting, press moulding, and hump moulding to craft each piece in-house, ensuring that every stage of production is infused with her personal attention and dedication. Her designs are characterised by minimalist patterns featuring simple strokes and colour blocks. Throughout her career, Silvia has been recognised for her contributions to the field. She is an active member of the Crafts Council and Master Artisan at the Homo Faber Michelangelo Foundation. Her work has received multiple accolades, including the Elle Decoration Design Award in 2016 and New Designers One Year On Award in 2013. In 2023, Silvia collaborated with Habitat as a guest designer for their 60th Anniversary Collection, creating ceramic home objects in partnership with a Portuguese artisan factory.
