At Brownlee Press, we believe print is alive, and every piece carries a story. The name Brownlee was my grandmother Barbara’s maiden name. Grandma Barb was a hand-lettered sign painter, making bold "Happy Birthday" banners and storefront sale signs with nothing more than paint, brushes, and her steady hand. This was before Photoshop and before digital printers. Her artistry, uniqueness, and eye for detail made a huge impact on me. I’m Bill Black, and I started Brownlee Press in Grand Rapids to create art that feels both familiar and new - a blend of nostalgia, humor, and design that looks as good on a wall as it does on a shelf. What began as a love for cartoons, paper, and design has grown into a collection of original prints, calendars, cards, and other small pieces made to be kept, displayed, and talked about. Quality is our promise. Authenticity is our soul. The same values that guided Grandma Barb’s brush guide every piece we make today.
