About Luma Coffee

Luma Coffee Roasters started with four best friends standing around a stove top with a Whirly Pop popcorn maker watching green coffee beans turn into what you see at a coffee shop. In 2015, at the time they began roasting coffee on their stove, they quickly realized the roasted coffee was better than what you can find in many shops. After drinking coffee for years, they realized that they had only just begun to see what coffee could really be and what the humble coffee cherry had to offer. They could only imagine what they could do with the proper roasting equipment. They knew that they had to get their product to other people and began dreaming about what specialty coffee offered at a dynamic coffee shop could do for the greater Hammond area. Driven by the desire to bring excellence, education, and community to the coffee scene in their city, the idea for Luma Coffee Roasters was born. The two couples started educating themselves on the high standards of specialty coffee, bought a real roaster, and applied what they learned to their products. Since then, Devin has earned a Professional Level Coffee Skills Diploma issued by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), and Logan has also earned several credits within the same program, including professional barista. In the Fall of 2020, everything came together to make the dream of a brick and mortar shop possible. Luma is proud to continue serving the great city of Hammond and beyond.
