Contrarium Chainstitch combines modern design and vintage handcraft techniques to create patches, handwritten embroidered lettering, and much more. Using a 90-year old Singer hand-cranked chainstitch embroidery machine, Steph McCourt watchfully makes each piece one at a time, stitch by stitch. Born and grown in sunny Denver, Colorado, Contrarium celebrates all things local, woman-owned, and AAPI built. Unique design is and always will be a priority, as is the commitment to stay contrary and go against the grain.
