About Lucien
One day, a man named Lucien Van den Abeele was born in 1926 in Kruishoutem. The son of a farmer, he was the eldest of ten children. Like his ancestors, he dedicated his life to agriculture. A true lover of the land, in 1958 he and his wife Alixa acquired the Bure farm in Wallonia, where his family and professional history unfolded. A father of three and grandfather of six, he passed away far too soon, leaving behind the memory of his love for his work and, above all, his zest for life. In his image, two generations later, Thomas, Stany, and Antoine decided to create a cooperative to combine their strengths and produce a finished product together, thus getting closer to the consumer. Indeed, consumer-activists are increasingly questioning their food choices and rightly want more local products, more transparency, and more sustainability. Passionate about potatoes and aperitifs, these three farmers from Namur decided to address all these concerns as a family and transform their own potatoes into artisanal chips . This family project could only bear one name: that of their grandfather, Lucien.
