After moving from Madras (Chennai), India to Boston, founder and chef Nancy Daniel searched everywhere for the rich, creamy spiced chai she grew up drinking, the kind brewed slowly with real ginger, cardamom, and warming spices. But most chai she found in the U.S. tasted artificial, overly sweet, or lacked depth. Determined to recreate the chai of her childhood, Nancy combined her background in engineering with her culinary training to develop a perfectly balanced chai recipe using real spices and traditional brewing methods. Named after her hometown Madras, Madhrasi brings authentic Indian chai to modern cafés and specialty stores through easy-to-use concentrates and latte mixes that deliver café-quality drinks in seconds.
